
Charlotte Gainsbourg has established herself as a talented actress of international repute. Recently honoured with the prestigious Best Actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival (2009) for her work in Antichrist, Lars von Trier’s latest production, Charlotte has brought truth and originality to a diverse, and often challenging, array of roles.

Born in New Zealand and now living in the U.S., Marton Csokas has built his acting career around prolific work in both the theatre and in film. His diverse feature credits include David Mackenzie’s Asylum with Natasha Richardson and Ian McKellen, Paul Greengrass’ The Bourne Supremacy Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven, Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Christine Jeffs’ Rain. In addition, Csokas won the 2007 AFI (Australian Film Institute) Award for “Best Supporting Actor” for his performance in Romulus, My Father. He stars next in John Madden’s The Debt as well as Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. opposite Matt Damon,


Based in Sydney, Aden Young started his career with the lead role in Bruce Beresford’s film Black Robe in 1991. Since then he has worked in numerous Australian films including Cosi and Paradise Road and recently starred in Lucky Country by Kriv Stenders and Mao’s Last Dancer by Bruce Beresford.

At the age of sixteen, Christian Byers has already played major roles in three Australian movies; Opal Dream in 2005, December Boys in 2007 and, most recently, Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger in 2008.

Already a familiar face on the big screen at the age of eleven, this will be Tom Russell’s fourth film after Daniel in 2008, and Last Ride and Love and Mortar in 2009.

The youngest cast member, four-year-old Gabriel Gotting, has already captivated the cast and crew with his infectious smile and dazzling blue eyes.

Penne Hackforth-Jones began her career in early landmark
Australian television
programs such as Bellbird, Number 96, Riptide, Division 4 and
Matlock Police.
She starred in Alvin Purple and Alvin Purple Rides Again and had
roles in many
television series including Cash and Company, Tandarra, Skyways, A
Country
Practice, The Young Doctors and, more recently, Headland, Bitter
& Twisted, All
Saints and Chandon Pictures. Penne’s film credits are many and
include Last
Breakfast in Paradise, Kokoda Crescent, Paradise Road, Muriels’
Wedding, Diana
& Me, Black and White and last year’s Australian box office
smash hit Mao’s Last
Dancer.

A NIDA graduate, Gillian is one of Australia’s most
respected actors. She has
appeared in some of Australia’s most successful television dramas
including
Wildside, GP, Cody, The Flying Doctors, Come in Spinner, Rafferty’s
Rules, Cop
Shop and Homicide. Recent credits include the hit series Packed to
the Rafters, Spirited and Love My Way.

This is Zoe’s feature film debut. She is a Queensland local and is sharing the screen with her uncle Patrick Boe, who was cast as her father. Her character Megan is Simone’s best friend.

The casting of the title role of “ The Tree” took place over two years and over 1000 trees auditioned for the part. Industry newcomer, Moreton Bay of Boonah, Queensland, was cast in May 2009 following a screen test that ran rings around the competition. With nearly 200 years of preparation, Moreton delivers a towering performance. He says “I’ve grown with the experience of filming this role and my career is really beginning to branch out, but I sure won’t forget my roots here in Boonah.” Moreton is available to view on Google Earth and can be contacted through his agent and neighbour, Margaret Foote.
